Along the Escarpment of the Great African Rift Valley

Your driver meets you at your appointed place in Addis Ababa at 8:30am and you drive to the north towards the tiny village of Ankober. With some snacks on board you can enjoy the 3 to 4 hour drive. The last stretch before Ankober unveils a dramatic drop of the escarpment to you - the Great African Rift Valley.

From here you set off for your spectacular nature hike and meet the locals along the way. After some hiking of your choice you meet the car and head on to the lodge. Enjoy some free time and dinner here before the night gets cozy at the campfire.

The early birds can enjoy the sunrise over the Great African Rift Valley or just have a relaxed morning at the lodge compound. The forested hill where the lodge is nestled is perfect to spot some monkeys and birds. Check out from the lodge is at 11am. There is no rush to return back to Addis Ababa early. Spent your time for more hiking or walking or take the car to drive a bit towards the lowlands an do some sightseeing there. Latest departure back to Addis Ababa will be around 4pm and arrival back in Addis will be around 7pm.

For those ones who have the time to spend some more days in Ankober, we can offer you overnight stays on B&B base at Ankober Palace Lodge or trip extensions to Awash National Park. All further activities or excursions can be organized on your own or SimienEcoTours can give you a hand with that.
